We went to the Rifu Oasis Church for service today. Although this church was not damaged by the tsunami, a number of her members were affected and lost their homes or jobs or both. After the service, members of the team from Saddleback Church (USA) served shaved ice desserts in front of the church to passersby at the adjoining park as well as those who attended the service. I made a new friend today.
In the afternoon, our team headed to the town of Matsushima for lunch and some sightseeing. Matsushima was also affected by the tsunami but as the town is sheltered by a number of islets, the damage was not as extensive as most of the other coastal towns.
